Parker's unique Nichols™ 716 Series two-speed motor utilizes two separate power elements on a common shaft. An integral series/parallel valve shifts between high torque, low speed (parallel) operation and high speed, low torque (series) mode in a ratio of 2:1. The use of two power elements eliminates the inefficiencies of traditional, single power element designs

The 716 Series Motor offers:
- Two separate power elements on a common shaft for a 2:1 speed ratio
- An integral series/parallel valve that shifts between high torque, low speed (parallel) operation and high speed, low torque (series) modes
- Delivers twice the torque and half the speed in the parallel mode
- Delivers twice the speed and half the torque in series mode
- A selector valve that can be open or closed center
- A selector valve that may be actuated by an external pilot or optional solenoid valve.
- An open center selector valve that can be shifted “on the fly” while the motor shaft is rotating under load
- A selector valve that is spring loaded to return to its pilot-pressure-off position
- A normal mode of operation that is field changeable and can be selected as series or parallel
- Pilot pressure requirement of 300 psi higher than motor case or outlet pressure and may be as high as typical hydraulic system operating pressure.
